With the generous support of City of Burnaby, another “Mayor’s Talk, Volunteer Training and Appreciation” event was successfully hosted on October 13, 2023.
The topics Mayor Hurley shared at the event include but not limited to multiculturalism, business development, affordable housing, hospital capacity, environmental protection, community involvement, volunteering resources, employment rate and many more.
Thank you to all the incredible volunteers who joined us at the "Mayor's Talk, Volunteer Training and Appreciation". All our volunteers were very engaged and focused on Mayor’s talk. All our volunteers “fight” to ask many questions and engaged fully with Mayor Hurley. Their enthusiasm, engagement, and insightful contributions made it a resounding success.
Here's a brief recap of the event:
🤝 Welcoming Atmosphere: The event kicked off with a warm and welcoming ambiance, encouraging open and respectful dialogue.
🌟 City Updates: Mayor Hurley provided valuable updates on ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at enhancing our city's infrastructure, public services, and overall quality of life.
❓ Engaging Q&A: Volunteers had the opportunity to ask questions, seeking clarifications on various matters that concern our community. The questions raised demonstrated a deep commitment to our city's well-being.
💡 Sharing Bright Ideas: The highlight of the event was the lively exchange of innovative ideas from attendees. From green initiatives to community development proposals, from Farsi to Arabic culture, from First Nations to Chinese Canadian community, the creativity and passion of our volunteers were truly inspiring.
🤝 Building Connections: Beyond the discussions, attendees networked and shared experiences, fostering a sense of togetherness that is essential for the growth of our community.
For those who couldn't attend, don't worry. As requested by participants, we'll be organizing more similar events in the furture, so you can stay informed.
Once again, we deeply appreciate Mayor Hurley’s dedication to the city's progress and development, we are very grateful to have such a caring mayor and local government, grateful to have all the supportive volunteers, and grateful to have such nice communities where we feel so welcome, valued, connected, supported one another, and where we are free to ask “bold” questions and thrive and grow as individuals as well as groups.
Let's continue working together to transform ideas into actions, ensuring that the city remains a vibrant, welcoming, and thriving place for generations to come.
