With the generous support of City of Burnaby, the “Mayor’s Talk, Volunteer Training and Appreciation” event was successfully hosted at the stunning beautiful cherry blossom City Hall on April 21, 2022.

Mayor Hurley’s immigrant experience was very relevant and relatable to many of us. His sharing inspired and educated all our volunteers especially the youth. He helped us to learn from his successes and failures, and encouraged us to pursue our goals.

The topics Mayor Hurley shared at the event include but not limited to his personal and professional experiences, challenges he has faced, how he overcame them, as well as advice on leadership, community involvement, volunteering, job seeking, and pursuing our passion.

All our volunteers were very engaged and focused on Mayor’s talk. All our volunteers especially youth asked many questions and engaged with Mayor Hurley, as this provided valuable insights and guidance for our own lives.
