Good Deed Happily Shared

Stories sharing, music, singing, dancing, painting, photo, video, food and more, the 5th Annual Canada Multicultural Creative Works Festival and Richmond Celebration BBQ were completed successfully at the main Hall at Minoru Centre for Active Living on Saturday the September 28th, 2019.

Around 300 people attended the event with the theme of sharing a good deed with the world.

These events were truly good opportunities to:

  • Connected people with a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences;

  • Increased Sense of belonging and responsibility to our communities;

  • Gained better understanding for groups of people and individuals with variation in race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, exceptionalities, language, religion, geographical area, etc.;

  • Shared knowledge and develop grassroots creativity and leadership skills;

  • Celebrated diversity and Canadian cultures, traditions, and customs of the world;

  • Appreciated the professionals and volunteers are delegated in community capacity building.

The opening ceremony started with Kaye Liao Banez, the little angel with beautiful voice, lead the WS Choir to sing the National Anthem, and a group poem read by WS Recitation.

The Hon. Senior Yonah Martin sent her greetings.

Sophia Zhang, chair of WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, hosted these two events in English and Chinese.

WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (WSIMS) is a non-profit organization and a volunteer-based group. Over the past 10 years it has been providing immigrant and refugee settlement services including language and computer training, and intercultural services including planning, organizing and hosting hundreds and thousands cross-cultural events, workshops, seminars, conferences, book launches, Discover World Culture series and more to create awareness, understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism, to build happier families, healthier communities and to foster intercultural harmony.
