Thank you for Participating: From Far and Wide - 2016 Multicultural Creative Writing Festival

2016 Multicultural Creative Writing Festival, organized through the support of Culture Days, BC Culture Days, City of Richmond, Vancouver Foundation, Richmond Cares Richmond Gives, Richmond Public library, WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society. We hosted this event on September 30th from 6pm to 9pm at Richmond Public Library. Around 70 people attended and more than 20 participants made a speech and/or read their original writings. It was a very successful event through a lot of volunteers' contribution: May Wang for English translation and making PowerPoint presentation, Linlin Qin for piano performance, Han Mu for photographing, Jack Jia for video-graphing, Lan Yang and Ann Zhao for distributing the books (A Feast for the Mind

The participants are from various cultural background, including but not limited to Europe, Asia, North America, etc. Around 20 people read their original writings in their own preferable languages include English, French, Heidi, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.

The reasons for us participating in this culture event this year are:

-As suggested and requested from some participants of our previous event 2015 Multicultural Creative Writing Festival;

-To give out the published book Multicultural Creative Writing Collection 2015;

-To continue getting people together to read their original creative writings and to share their passion;

-To celebrate cultural diversity, lighten up community spirit and to have some fun.

We used the promotional materials prepared by City of Richmond and Richmond Public library, and they were very helpful. We also used the following ways to promote our activity: Email, Website, Facebook, Twitter, Telephone calls, as well as handing out many other printed materials we produced.

Our Culture Days experience was a very positive experience, and it is something we will do again next year hopefully.

At the end of this Festival, we sent each writer and sponsor one copy of the published book A Feast for the Mind and Heat - Multicultural Creative Writing Collection 2015 as our appreciation.

Through the event we had last year and this year, we directly and indirectly reached out thousands and hundreds of people, shared our passion of creative writing with various age groups and we had a lot of fun to celebrat our culture diversity.
