This year's event, we have received many congratulations, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier John Horgan.

 

WS Choir will presenting O Canada, the national anthem of Canada as the opening song, and WS Recitation will read the classic Tears Are Not Enough (song by Northern Lights) as the opening poem for these 3 events.

Call for Submission for

The 5th Annual

Canada Multicultural Creative Works Festival 2019

Time: August 1, 2019 - September 15, 2019

 

Theme: good deeds, big or small

Who can submit: everyone

 

What to create: anything related with “good deeds”, any story, any person, or write about a place, movie, food, sport, culture, customs, traditions, etc. 

 

New invention, new technology, digital art, creative poems, essays, short stories, drama, music, dances, plays, paintings, drawing, hand-crafts, photos, videos, and whatever you name are all encouraged.

 

Must be original creative works. Each submission preferably 500 words if it is in words; if created in other languages rather than English, please provide an English translation if possible. If you prefer, you can provide a brief contributor’s introduction and a photo to be published in a book.

Please note: WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society reserves the right to use the submitted creative works for publication purpose, and reserves the right to edit the works to match the theme. The copyrights of the original creative works are still belonging to the authors, writers and translators if applicable.

How to submit: one creative work for each; submit with the entry form, or email to sophia@wsisc.com.

​Submit fee: free; each writer will get a gift book as appreciation; submitter is responsible for their postage if mailing needed.

The 5th Annual

Canada Multicultural Creative Works Festival 2019

 

Creative Works Sharing: Selected 30 creative works will be read/performed in various languages.

 

This event is free to public, cross-cultural learning and understanding groups and individuals, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, elders and youth (above age 5), men and women, families and kids, rich or poor, military and veterans, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, poets and writers, artists and entrepreneurs, or any individual who is passionate about creative works, all are welcome. 

 

This event will be a very good opportunity to:

  • Connect people with a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences;

  • Increase Sense of belonging and responsibility to our communities;

  • Better understanding for groups of people and individuals with variation in race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, language, religion, geographical area and more;

  • Share knowledge and develop grassroots creativity and leadership skills;

  • Celebrate diversity and various Canadian cultures, traditions, and customs of the world;

  • Appreciate the professionals and volunteers are delegated in community capacity building.

WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (WSIMS) is a non-profit organization and a volunteer-based group. 2019年(第5届)加拿大多元文化创作节

 

创意作品分享:30件创意作品将在加拿大多元文化创意作品节上以各种语言分享。

 

该活动是一个对所有人免费的公众活动,任何多元文化团体和个人,原住民、老年人和青少年(5岁以上)、家庭和儿童、富人和穷人、军人和退伍军人、移民和难民、残疾人、诗人和作家、艺术家和企业家,或任何对创作充满热情的人我们都欢迎。

 

这次活动将是一次非常好的机会:

  • 将具有广泛兴趣、背景和不同经验的人联系起来;

  • 增强对社区的归属感和责任感;

  • 更好地了解不同种族、社会经济地位、性别、语言、宗教、地理区域等方面的人群和个人;

  • 分享知识、激发基层创造力和领导力;

  • 庆祝加拿大多元文化、世界多样的传统和习俗;

For celebrating Canada's 150th birthday and Culture Days, for encouraging multicultural creative writing and lightening up community spirit, WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society will host ‘Canada and Me - From Far and Wide: 2017 Multicultural Creative Writing Contest, Festival and Book Launch', sponsored by Canada 150, Culture Days, BC Culture Days, City of Richmond, Richmond Art Centre and Richmond Public Library. 

Celebrate Canada 150 & Culture Days:

From Far and Wide 

2017 Multicultural Creative Writing Contest 

Time: August 16, 2017 - September 15, 2017
          September 16, 2017 - October 15, 2017 (15 "Touching Canada 2017" Writings will be selected among the submissions before September 15, 2017, and will be shared on the 2017 Multicultural Creative Writing Festival on September 29, 2017; 135 'Most Inspirational Writings 2017' writings will be selected among the submission before October 15, 2017. 
 
Theme: 'Canada and Me' Celebrate Canada 150
Who can submit: everyone has a special connection with Canada include Canadian citizens, permanent residents, international students, refugees, any visitors are in Canada or have been to Canada, or have any family or friend in Canada.
What to write: anything related with Canada, any story between you and Canada, your close family or friend's story in Canada, or write about a Canadian place, movie, food, sport, etc. Poems, essays, short stories, drama, songs, plays, etc. are all encouraged. Must be original writing. Each submission shall be no more than 500 words; if written in other languages rather than English, please provide English translation at least a brief English translation. If you prefer, you can provide a brief writer’s introduction and a photo to be published in the book. Submissions are very welcome.
Prize: 135 writings will be selected as 'Most Inspirational Writings 2017', 15 will be awarded as "Touching Canada 2017" and read on the 2017 Multicultural Creative Writing Festival on September 29, 2017. A book will be published for the 150 selected writings. You will meet some of the Contest Committee members during the Creative Writing Festival on September 29.
Please note: WS Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society reserves the right to use the submitted writings for publication purpose, and reserves the right to edit the writing for the 'Celebrate Canada 150' theme. The copyrights of the writings are still belonging to the writers and translators if applicable.
Once gift book will be printed for each writer, however, if mailing is needed, send the postage to info@wsisc.com (Within Canada )

Everyone is welcome to participate this event! Any famous poets and writers, any individual who is passionate about creative writing is welcome to share your original stories about Canada. Selected 15 participants will read the 15 'Touching Canada 2017' writings in their preferable languages and contribute their unique talent into this event.

This event will be a very good opportunity to connect people from all different backgrounds, including but not limited to, European and Asian culture backgrounds; professionals and volunteers are delegated in community capacity building; seniors and youth who are simply passionate about creative writing. The goal for this event is bringing community members from different ethnic groups together to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday,  celebrate multiculturalism and simply appreciate the way each is helping the other.

时间: 2017年8月16日 - 2017年9月15日
        2017年9月16日 - 2017年10月15日 (15篇“2017年感动加拿大”作品将在截至9月15日来稿中挑选,并将在9月29日创意写作节上分享; 135篇“2017年最激励人心”作品将在截至10月15日来稿中挑选。)
主题:“我和加拿大”庆祝加拿大150周年
​参赛者:与加拿大有紧密关系的任何人,包括加拿大公民,永久居民,国际学生,难民,任何正在访问加拿大或曾经访问过加拿大的人,或有任何亲戚朋友在加拿大的人。

这次活动将是一个非常好的机会将来自不同文化背景,包括但不限于欧洲和亚洲文化背景的人们,热衷于社区建设的工作者及义工,以及热衷于文学创作的老年人和青少年联系起来。这个活动的目标是通过创意写作与朗诵,将来自五湖四海的人们聚集在一起,来共同庆祝多元文化,共同庆祝加拿大的150岁生日。

《 加拿大与我 -- 来自五湖四海的故事:2017年多元文化创意作品集》一书将在2017年多元文化创意写作节之后公开出版发行,并将于2017年12月15日在列治文图书馆举行新书发布会,作为礼物赠送每位作者一本《加拿大与我 -- 来自五湖四海的故事:2017年多元文化创意作品集》(此次多元文化创意写作征文大赛不收取参赛费; 如果需要邮寄新书,则需要邮寄费,邮寄加拿大境内每本书收取8加元,邮寄加拿大境外每本书收取18加元; 或下载电子版--费用将比邮寄费用便宜)。
新书发布,原创作品分享,奖状颁发,精美茶点,经典音乐,节日欢庆,还有50份幸运抽奖等您来拿!
